Green Arrow Recycling was founded by Karl and Johanna Schmidt in September 2009, focusing on commercial / industrial recycling. Because of the overwhelming requests for residential recycling, they began offering a drop-off service for Katy residents in January this year.
Acceptable items for residential recycling at Green Arrow are:
Plastic #1 - These are typically soda or personal water bottles that are clear, but can be colored.
Plastic #2 - Detergent bottles and milk jugs make up the majority of these plastics. Larger gallon water containers are typically #2, as they are opaque. Some medicine bottles, such as Tylenol, will have the #2.
Aluminum cans
Corrugated cardboard
Electronics - no charges / fees for cell phones, rechargeable batteries, CPUs, servers or cables. Call to find out fees for recycling monitors, televisions, printers, mice, keyboards, DVD and VHS players.
Glass is not accepted at this facility.
Check the bottom of all bottles/containers for the recycling symbol to see if they are either #1 or #2 plastics. All items must be separated and bagged into the categories above. Please remove all caps from plastic bottles and make sure all items are clean.
Recycling electronics? Make sure you call for an appointment to drop these items off and to find out if your items will require a fee.
Green Arrow Recycling is located at 27235 Highway Boulevard in Old Town Katy, just west of Katy High School.
