KOSMOS® COFFEE SELECTS HOMELESSNESS AS JULY CAUSE
NONPROFIT COFFEE SHOP TO DONATE JULY PROFIT TO
STAR OF HOPE AND SAMARITAN'S PURSE
KATY, TX (June 22, 2010) Kosmos® Coffee has selected Homelessness as its cause for July and will donate 100 percent of profit for the month to two organizations which help build homes and offer shelter to those in need, both locally and globally. Kosmos® Coffee has selected Star of Hope and Samaritan's Purse as its featured beneficiaries for July because both help provide shelter and other services to combat homelessness, both in Houston and internationally.
"War, poverty, famine, displacement ... even foreclosure. All can leave people without shelter. We often dream of a ‘place to call home' and yet some live without even a roof over their heads," said General Manager Julie Thigpen. "Whether homeless in America or a refugee in a war-torn country, Kosmos desires to assist those who help shelter the homeless."
Local Cause: Star of Hope
Star of Hope is a Christ-centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children. Positive life changes are encouraged through structured programs which focus on spiritual growth, education, employment, life management and recovery from substance abuse. Global Cause: Samaritan's Purse
Samaritan's Purse - The rainy season has started in Haiti and people still living on the streets urgently need shelter. Teams are constructing temporary shelters at the rate of about 1,200 per month, where families can live until they are able to rebuild. By the end of October, the goal is to have constructed a total of 7,500 shelters. Samaritan's Purse is committed to the Haitian people and will continue to work to meet critical needs, including medical care, food, clean water and sanitation, as well as shelter.
