LaCenterra's Summer Sounds Concert Series
Returns Beginning June 2!
Series runs Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., in Heritage Square
Katy, Texas (May 24, 2010) - Live music returns to LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch with 2011 Summer Sounds concert series. Guests are invited to unwind after a long day or get a jump on the weekend with this Thursday evening series featuring a talented line-up of local and regional artists. The Summer Sounds series offers a sizzling mix of Latin dance, funk, zydeco, Caribbean country, disco, pop and more.
The Summer Sounds series kicks off June 2 with the return of JALEA, Houston's hippest, young Latin dance band. Back by popular demand - the name JALEA, Spanish for "jelly," says it all to music fans who love to shake and shimmy on the dance floor. The group's repertoire includes salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaeton and Latin pop, as well as disco and swing favorites.
Mike Reed and The Revelators perform June 9. From the hit sounds of Motown R&B and funk to the soulful grit of the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans, Katy-based Mike Reed and The Revelators will heat up the night with a groovy blend of R&B, jazz, funk and a splash of rock 'n' roll. The Zydeco Dots will have toes tappin' June 16. Since forming in 1987, the Houston-based Zydeco Dots have been cookin' up some of the area's best representation of this high energy descendent of traditional Creole folk music and serving it to new audiences across Gulf Coast. The Zydeco Dots have won numerous awards - voted best Zydeco band by the Houston Press. The band has backed up many accordion players over the years including such notables as C J Chenier, Pierre Blanchard, Leon Sam, Pierre Stout and Wilfred Chavis. Visit www.zydecodots.com for a taste.
Break out the tropical shirts and flip flops for the June 23 installment of Summer Sounds featuring Jerry Diaz & Hanna's Reef. Jerry Diaz is a songwriter with sea salt in his veins and a gypsy spirit in his soul. His band, Hanna's Reef, is the premier Gulf Coast Beach Band. Based out of the Galveston Bay-Port Arthur area, this ensemble knows firsthand about life on the Texas coast.
Hanna's Reef performs a mixture of their own extensive catalog of original beach and sailing songs along with classic Jimmy Buffett cover tunes with a splash of percussive tropical flavor. The group never forgets its roots - you'll hear a little bit of Texas music mixed in occasionally, as well as songs with a distinctive Cajun influence.

CHAMELEON brings the Summer Sounds series to a high energy, gold lamé-clad finale on June 30. The dynamic duo of Bart Anderson and Chere' Sutton-Anderson are a musical force. Bart has one of the most powerful and soulful voices in Houston and Chere' brings incredible vocals and incredible energy to their performances.

The Summer Sounds series is the community party precursor to LaCenterra's BIG Backyard Barbecue. The annual Independence Day celebration will be held Monday, July 4 from 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and includes live music, fireworks and more. Details forthcoming.
The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by LaCenterra and its participating retailers. Weather permitting, performances will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in Heritage Square, LaCenterra's central courtyard. About LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch
A joint venture of Houston-based Vista Equities Group and Denver-based Amstar Group, LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is greater Katy/ west Houston's premiere mixed-use town center development.
